What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit. They allow the website to remember certain information about your visit — such as whether you're logged in — so you don't have to re-enter it every time.

Not all data stored on your device by a website comes in the form of traditional cookies. We also use browser local storage and session storage to store certain information. This policy covers all of these mechanisms.

How We Use Cookies & Storage

Medaann uses cookies and browser storage strictly to operate the platform. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

Authentication cookie (token) We set a cookie named `token` that holds your JWT (JSON Web Token) authentication credential. This cookie is essential — without it, you cannot stay signed in. It expires automatically after 7 days, after which you will need to sign in again.

  • Name: `token`
  • Purpose: Keeps you signed in across page loads and browser sessions.
  • Type: Strictly necessary
  • Duration: 7 days
  • Set by: Medaann

Authentication local storage (auth-storage) We store a copy of your authentication state — including your user profile, login status, and token — in your browser's local storage using our Zustand state library. This allows the page to load your account data instantly without waiting for a server request on every navigation.

  • Key: `auth-storage`
  • Purpose: Persists your login state and profile data between sessions.
  • Type: Strictly necessary
  • Duration: Until you log out or clear browser storage
  • Set by: Medaann

Invoice settings local storage If you are a seller and have customised your invoice template, those preferences are saved locally in your browser so they persist between sessions without requiring a server round-trip.

  • Key: `medaann_invoice_settings_{userId}`
  • Purpose: Saves invoice template preferences for sellers.
  • Type: Functional
  • Duration: Until you clear browser storage or delete your account
  • Set by: Medaann

Invoice session storage When converting an order to an invoice, temporary order data is held in session storage for the duration of your browser session. This data is cleared automatically when you close the browser tab.

  • Key: `medaann_invoice_from_order`
  • Purpose: Passes order data to the invoice creation flow.
  • Type: Strictly necessary (session only)
  • Duration: Until the browser tab is closed
  • Set by: Medaann

Third-Party Cookies

Google OAuth If you choose to sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies on your device as part of its authentication flow. These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, not ours. We do not control or have access to these cookies.

Cloudinary Images and files on the platform are served via Cloudinary's content delivery network (CDN). As with any CDN, Cloudinary may log request metadata (such as your IP address) when delivering files to your browser. Cloudinary may set performance-related cookies. These are governed by Cloudinary's own privacy policy.

We do not use:

  • Google Analytics or any other analytics platform
  • Facebook Pixel or any advertising network cookies
  • Hotjar, Mixpanel, Segment, or similar behavioural tracking tools
  • Any retargeting or remarketing cookies

Your Choices

Browser settings You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies at any time. Instructions vary by browser:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

Please note that blocking the `token` authentication cookie will prevent you from signing in to Medaann. The platform cannot function without this cookie.

Clearing local storage You can clear local storage and session storage through your browser's developer tools (F12 → Application → Storage). Clearing `auth-storage` will sign you out of the platform.

Opting out of Google sign-in If you prefer not to use Google OAuth, you can register and sign in with an email and password instead. This avoids Google's authentication cookies entirely.
